Position Description: Network Runners is seeking aAircrew Flight Equipment Technician to support the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), 720th Special Tactics Group (720th STG), and Special Tactics Training Squadron (STTS). The Aircrew Flight Equipment Technician maintains, repairs and manages parachutes, personal flotation devices, night‑vision devices and other aircrew flight equipment used in Special Tactics training. The technician fabricates unique gear, inspects and packs parachutes, trains personnel on equipment use and packing procedures, conducts joint aerial inspections, and operates sewing and oxygen‑servicing equipment. Duties and Responsibilities:
Fabricate and modify unique items such as rucksacks, deployment bags, canopies and harnesses using experimental fabrics to suit special‑purpose requirements.
Inspect, repair and pack chest reserve, static‑line, cargo and military free‑fall parachutes and related equipment; train personnel on packing procedures and perform in‑processing inspections.
Demonstrate packing procedures and conduct in‑process inspections during repacks; ensure documentation requirements are met.
Perform joint aerial inspections on RAM‑B motorcycle bundles, cargo bundles and other special‑operation loads; schedule, coordinate and deliver airdrop equipment to inspection sections.
Perform daily and bi‑weekly clean‑up duties to maintain work areas, including sweeping, organizing tools and cleaning equipment.
Set up, operate, clean and perform basic maintenance on lightweight, medium‑weight and heavy‑duty sewing machines.
Use an oxygen booster pump system to service Phantom O2 bottles and O2 console systems for airborne operations.
Clean, maintain, inspect and issue night‑vision devices and other specialized equipment.
Required/Desired Skills and Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years’ Special Operations Forces experience as a 7‑level in the USAF Aircrew Flight Equipment Craftsman career field (AFSC 1P071) or at least five (5) years’ experience in an equivalent sister‑service aircrew flight equipment craftsman career field.
Working knowledge of parachute rigging, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, accountability and management of RA‑1, CYPRESS, MC‑6, T‑11R‑SV, T‑10C, PVS 31‑A, rigged alternate method boat (RAM‑B), Phantom O2 bottles, Phantom Mask, 10‑Man O2 Console, Tactical Floatation Support System (TFSS) personal flotation devices and Para Swim Vest.
Possession of Phase 1, 2 and 3 Fort Lee certification from the Aerial Delivery and Field Service Department.
License or certification, or ability to qualify, on the operation of material handling equipment.
Ability to lift 40 pounds and work in physically rigorous shop and outdoor environments, including non‑climate‑controlled settings.
