Position Description: Network Runners is seeking aMedical Office Clerk to support the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), 720th Special Tactics Group (720th STG), and Special Tactics Training Squadron (STTS). The Medical Office Clerk provides administrative and clerical support in a clinical setting for the Operational Clinical Support Unit. Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet patients and visitors at the front desk or information center; answer the main office telephone, direct calls to the appropriate sections and take messages.
Arrange and schedule medical appointments, verify patient eligibility for services and relay general instructions; refer patients to other sections when necessary.
Obtain, update, and file medical records; organize and research patient records, extract information and review records for completeness, accuracy and consistency; initiate and locate patient medical records as needed.
Obtain documentation requested by healthcare providers, such as test results or documents not yet filed.
Perform other administrative and clerical duties in support of medical care and operational support.
Create appointment schedules and templates in the patient appointment system; ensure medical records are available prior to appointments.
Conduct end‑of‑day processes, resolve pending appointments and manage delinquent appointments in the computer system.
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements and other applicable directives.
Use and update medical systems including AHLTA, MHS Genesis, CHCS, DEERS, ASIMS, AIMWTS and PEPP.
Required/Desired Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
At least two (2) years of experience in a medical office setting with familiarity with medical terminology.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements.
General office administrative and clerical skills, including receptionist duties and telephone etiquette.
Working knowledge of Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), MHS Genesis, Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), Aeromedical Service Information Management System (ASIMS), Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System (AIMWTS), Physical Examination Processing Program (PEPP) and military medical filing systems.
Understanding of military medical record components, forms, filing systems and tracking procedures.
Ability to work in a primarily sedentary role that may involve prolonged walking, standing, sitting or bending.
